Thank you for visiting as we prepare for our annual participation in Great Give Florida, a day of 24 hours of giving organized by United Way of Martin and Palm Beach Counties. For this year’s campaign, we are happy to share highlights about a few of our scholarship recipients, and how your dollars are helping. These  are real students, with real Tourette Syndrome, that are making a real mark for themselves as they navigate college and pursue their career dreams. Get to know our students, and THANK YOU for supporting Dollars 4 Tic Scholars scholarship fund during April 24, 2019, Great Give.

Our Students, Their Stories:
Rachel Retchless, Central Washington University
2016 Dollars 4 Tic Scholars TS Scholarship Recipient
Major: Public Relations
Minor: International Studies

Rachel has been busy working on her PR major and International Studies minor while enjoying the opportunity to explore Europe.  She shared a few pictures and experiences with us.

  • How is your junior year of school going?

My junior year is going very well. I began the year by receiving the Central Washington University Board of Trustees Honor Scholarship. I was on the Dean’s list for fall and winter quarter.

  • What did you learn about going to college that you didn’t expect?

One thing I’ve learned these last few years about college is that taking classes I love makes college feel easy, even If they’re high level hard classes.

  • What do you love about what you are studying?

One thing I love about  my PR major is that classes are not set up lecture style. They’re designed to have students work in groups and learn how to do PR hands on like we would in a work environment.

  • Why you are excited about your future?

I’m excited for next year because I will be doing an internship and graduating in the spring. I’m excited about finding a career that incorporates the things I love, traveling and PR.
