BOCA RATON, FL – The Kelsey B. Diamantis TS Scholarship Family Foundation, Inc., dba Dollars 4 Tic Scholars, a local non-profit organization established in 2014, has just received its first grant. The foundation, one of the first in the country to award college scholarships to students who have Tourette Syndrome, has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation.

Diane Diamantis, co-founder of Dollars 4 Tic Scholars with her daughter, Kelsey, noted, “We are so grateful for the support of the Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation. When I saw that their vision is to be a resource to help children with Tourette Syndrome follow their dreams, I knew that our mission was in alignment with theirs. We are blazing a new trail by offering scholarships that recognize the learning challenges of students with TS, with the goal of encouraging these students to follow their dreams of achieving a degree.”

Diamantis continued, “We are delighted to have the support of Brad’s organization. We have designated one of our $1,000 scholarships for 2015 as the “2015 Dollars 4 Tic Scholars Tourette Syndrome Scholarship Sponsored by the Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation.” This grant award gives us such joy, and inspires us to keep working on behalf of these deserving students.”

The Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation, named after founder and teacher Brad Cohen, author of the book and movie “Front of the Class,” awards funding to programs and events across the US that benefit children with Tourette Syndrome. The organization’s mission is to “…help children who have Tourette Syndrome learn how to exist in the real world with others who don’t understand.” It continues, saying, “We support the socialization, achievement, and education of individuals with Tourette Syndrome and the non-profit/tax-exempt organizations that focus on the needs of those with Tourette Syndrome.”

The Dollars 4 Tic Scholars scholarship program has received numerous scholarship applications from students around the country in 2015 in response to its inaugural offering. Two scholarships will be awarded this spring to students with the diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome.
